Pocket long zooms are high on the list of many shoppers these days, and the Canon SX210 takes the zoom a little longer, with a 14x zoom that ranges from 28-392mm. The Canon SX210 also sports a 14-megapixel sensor, exceeding the competition in both zoom range and resolution. It is surprising just how close you can get with a 14x zoom, especially with a pocket digital camera like the Canon SX210,...

The Canon PowerShot SX210 IS is a compact ultra zoom camera that packs a 14 Megapixel CCD, 14X optical zoom lens, 3-inch widescreen LCD display, a full set of auto and manual controls, and a 720p movie mode. It takes good quality still photos (and so-so quality videos) at lower ISOs, and generally does most things as well as most cameras in its class. Negatives include fairly strong purple...

Love my little camera
Strengths: beautiful pictures, no need of flash even in darker areas.
Weakness: would like added traditional view finder. Would like ability to add filters.
As an artist, I'm an intermediate user. I take mostly photos of my own artwork and for inspiration for artwork, as well as family pics. I've had my camera for 2 years and I love it. It takes beautiful videos, is quite simple to use. The only two drawbacks for me is that it doesn't have a traditional view finder, which is imperative in the sunlight because of the glare on the screen. The other is that I can't add a filter to cut the glare when I'm taking a photo of a framed picture or an aquarium, etc. I'd highly recommend this reasonably priced camera for the amateur who wants to take great pictures.
